Show MANY ATTEND RACE MEE1 The first day of the Parowan Race Meet and Stock Show was well attended at-tended by people from nearly every city and town in Southern Utah. Tho greatest attractions wero the horse races, dances and theater, but tho stock show was n close second. The promoters of the meet secured tho services of John T. Cain III, of tho Logan Agricultural college, an i expert in tho judging of live stock. After his inspection of the animals on show ho announced that tho Rnm-bouilette Rnm-bouilette sheep wero tho equal of any in tho west nml better than tho aver-ago aver-ago anywhere in the state. Tho Short IIorn cattle and Duroc Jersey swino n1 stood high. Tho baso ball game Wednesday morning was a hotly contested game between Parowan nino and tho Cedar nine, the latter winning by n scoro of 5 to 0. The Cedar team will play Beaver today at Parowan. Tho races in tho afternoon, as ro-I ro-I ported by a good judge of such affairs, af-fairs, wero the best that has been scon in Iron county for years. There woro no waits, the jockeys wero ready for tho gong and tho horses wero fast. Tho horao owned by Henry Mackelprang was tho only entry en-try from Cedar and was tho winner of tho first race, with n purso of $100. Judging from reports wo hear, tho other two days of tho meet were as successful as tho first day, but wo were unablo to get detailed reports. |
