Show AnEMPT TO BOOST PL ESTATE VALUES . ( 00 OWNERS IMAGINE STRANGERS WILL FLOCK HERE TO BUY. f, . 00 j ' ' Danger of Over Inflation of Prices r' , i On Lnnd Wanted by Railroad May , be Means of Postponing Building I Indefinitely. 00 Now that there is an assurance that ( .a railroad will be build to Cedar City, n Ereat many people feel thac real estate is going to be in demand, and that outside people are coming in by tho thousands to buy. As usual when there has been anything any-thing along this line broached, the owners have immediately boosted tho .price they want for their" property, ' thereby killing the proposition. Tho news of the railroad being like-' like-' ly to be built has again brought out f the old price bbosting "stunt" and you I . can hear men in all parts of the town ' stating that their particular proper- ' ty is of a very h'gh value, 'sometimes ' If three or four times higher than the1 ! same property was offered for a year ago. j , This is the case with the property that the U. P. officials are trying to ' ' ' get options 'on. That referred too is that lying on the west side of the block immediately north of the new hotel, and we are told by'reliablo peo-j peo-j pie that some of the property owners, f ' in that district nre going to demand n high price, figuring thnt the advent ', of the railroad will naturally cause real estate values to jump to the sky. j. This is thej, vorst kind of folly on f -fact that they are trying to hold up( Jv. the people who may wish to buy al-j tf1' ways results in turning away those it who would btherwise purchase and start business in this city. j jlj The Pros, of the U. P has stated positively thnt the company will not ' pny exorbitant prices for land for de-J i pot site and grounds, but it is per- f fectly willing to pay n reasonable' , figure, in other words, tho U. P. is J willing to pay the correct value and i. no more. Tho U. P. does not have to pay an exorbitant figure, and should our peo- i pie attempt to gain it, there will bo a danger of the U. P. postponing In- j - dofinitely tho building of the road to ; Cedar. ' Property owners whb may bo ap proached for option on their real estate will do well to ask no more than a fair value, based on the values as they aro now established in Cedar. Every citizen 'n this town should give their moral support tt the building build-ing of tho road for it will mean much to this section. It will mean the opening open-ing up of the vast mineral resources, our agricultural resources, and the enlarging and bettering of our dairy and beef industries. rt will also mean tho erection of a sugar factory in this valley, so we have been told by people who should know. This last however, not until tho tillage acreage of the valley has been increased by 8,000 acres. nn |
