WILL BE OF STEEL ENTIRELY. 00 The Board of County Commissioners Commission-ers of Vron County met August 13th, tho following officers present: Commissioners, Com-missioners, H. L. Adams, G. Berry Williams, Myron D. Higbee. John W. Bentloy, clerk of the Board. Geo. H. Lunt, county attorney. Hillman Dalloy, Assessor. J. T. Leigh, sheriff. sher-iff. D. Claudo Urie, county road supervisor. Business wns transacted as follows: fol-lows: A committee of citizens of Cedar City waited upon tho Commissioners for tho purpose of discussing the Coal Creek bridge condition and to enter into an agreement of somo sort for the contruction of tho same. It was moved and passed that tho County of Iron, co-operate with tho citizens of Cedar City, and the of ficials of Cedar City for the construction con-struction of the bridge upon the basis of the Government of tho U. S. pnying 74 per cent of tho total cost and the county nnd citizens and Cedar City on a 50 per cent to 50 per cent plan; provided thnt the citizens cit-izens nnd Cedar City give a sufficient suffi-cient bond to protect the county in this payment. It wns further moved tltat 'the clerk and chairman be authorized' auth-orized' to sign tho co-operative Mgreemeht. ' " -" ' --" It was moved that the County Commissioners be authorized to adjust ad-just the matter with the Corry Brothers for right-of-way on the Cedar-Lund road, and that J. G. Pace bo chosen as an nbritrator in the matter to represent the county. Tho mntter of repairing the bridge over tho creek near Rob't Halter-man's Halter-man's residence in Parowan, was discussed dis-cussed and tho work ordered to begin be-gin immediately. Tho application of Mrs. Herbert Riggs and Mrs. M. T. Davis for widow's pensions were ollowid as , follows: Mrs. Riggs $10, and Mrs. Davis $21 per month. Commissioner Williams reported that Mr. H. A. Pace would provide gates for tho public on tho road Reading through his entry on tho Kanarra Mountain. A petition from tho citizens of Beryl and Newcastle asking fr the road between those two points be repaired was referred to the road supervisor for further investigation. Tho application of Mrs. Lucy Barton Bar-ton for an allowance for her granddaughter, grand-daughter, a minor, was referred to Commissioner Adams for investiga-l tion. j The clerk was ordered to write the Kano County Commissioners to consider con-sider the matter of the burial expenses ex-penses of Herbert Riggs, native of Kane County, who died in Cedar City. Tho clerk was also instructed to writo the railroads to repair ithe crossings at Yale and Beryl, those crossings bejng reported unsafe to traffic. It was moved that the county agent be asked to co-operate with the county in the eradication of the poinsonous weeds along and upon the county roads and public lands within the county, authorizing the county agent to hire the necessary help at the expense of the county. Tho clerk reported the completion of tho financial statement of the county auditor and that the same would be ready for publication within with-in a few days. It was ordered published pub-lished in two county newspapers for ono issue. Thu stnto auditor's report to tho commissioners of the nudit mado of tho books in the Clerk's and Treasurer's Trea-surer's offico was read, showing the oxcellent condition of tiio books nnd tho accuracy of the accounts and d's-bursements d's-bursements mado by thoso officials, and tho willingnofls of the county officials of-ficials to co-operato in the matter of taxation. Salaries and usual bjlls against tho county for road work, etc., wore allowed. |
