Show COLLEGE PROTESTS BALL GAME. The Agricultural College has entered en-tered a protest against tho game of basket ball by the College team and tho Dixie team, Feb. 4th. Tho protest pro-test is explained fully in tho letter following, which has boon sent to the Stato officials. Tho College does r. t ask it ro than an even break, and should the Parowan High, which now leads, succeed in winning the game with tho College tomorrow night, they will have tho well wishes of the local team for their success at to state tournament. According to the protest by tho College Mr. Adams, refereo of tho gamo played February 4, was partial to the Dixio team, and as a consequense the game wos won by it by ono point. The letter of protest follows: J. E. Moss, President, Utah Athletic Association, , ' Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Sir: Tho inclosed sheet will glvo you the present standing of the Basket Ball teams of tho Southern Division, with ono moro gamo to bo played this week. As it stands Parowan High has won first place in the Division on tho game wc lost to. Dixie, February 4, by ono point with L. J. Adams of Parowan High School ns tho official referee. Providing Pro-viding wo win over Parowan High in this week's game, we horeby protest their claim to firstplaco in the Division. Wo should liko to havo tho B. A. C Dixie gamoof f'eb.ruary 4th played over with an impartial, re" fereo or thrown ou of the counting altogether and then give us a chance at Parowan on a neutral floor. Wo have demonstrated conclusive-ly conclusive-ly that wo are a much stronger team than Dixie wc defeated them horc, Murdock Academy won over them twice and we havo won over Murdock Academy twice. But in the game of February 4th, with Dixio College out-of-tho-running ns tho schedule will show, and all of Parowan's interests in-terests centered on our defeat, Mr. Adams, especially in the second half, appeared to permit his local interests unduly to influenco his officiating. After selecting Mr. Adams to attend your school for Officials in December we thought he would bo able to llvo abovo his local interests but apparently appar-ently we were mistaken. Murdock Academy, wo are informed, was very much disappointed, also, with his work in their game of February Gth. AVith respect to the game of February Feb-ruary 4th, the first half ended 15 to 13 in our favor. In tho beginning of the second half wo increased our lead by seven points after which Mr. Adams seemed, to us, to continually take the ball away from our playors, on out-of-bounds, on held-ball, etc. We had complcto control of the ball at center and wo think the Dixie players were allowed to hold, block, and hack us on our attempts to play our signals. During a "time-out" in the middle of the second half a Mr. Empey, originally from Dixio, but now teaching in Parqwan, ran out on tho floor and held a, secret conference con-ference with Mr. Adams. Paul Hafen, ono of tho Dixie players, but not in said game, made a statement to Mr. Adams in the presence of Jack Christensen to the effect that Mc-Arthur Mc-Arthur of tho Dixie team attacked Spllsbury of tho B. A. C. team committing com-mitting a personal foul; Adams blow his whistle, ran over and called the personal foul on Salisbury instead of McArthur. In all our league games this year wo havo had but one man put out on personal fouls Spilsbury, our guard, was put out early in the second half of said gamo. Our participation in athletics In the past is proof that wo ask for nothing mora than an even break. Should wo defeat Parowart High in tho league gamo this week, wo consider con-sider wo should be given aa ep-nortunity ep-nortunity to meet them on a neutral floor for Division Honors. Should Parowan win over us this week, we M wish them nothing less than lots of M success in the tournament. M A copy of this letter is being sent to Willard Ashton, Arbitrator; Prin- M cipal R. L. Fcnton of Parowan High School, Division Representative; Prin- H cipal Joseph K. Nicholes of the Dixio Normal College, and Principal J.
