Show v ADAMS STOCK COMPANY IN FINE ENTERTAINMENT Last Wednesday evening the Adams Ad-ams Stock company of Pnrowan gave another of their pleasing dramatic performances at tho Ward Hall, the pieco being entitled, "Bellovo Me, Xan-tippe," Xan-tippe," Tho play was well chosen, being be-ing full of action and good wholesome comedy. Will L. Adams, tho founder of tho company, appeared In tho stcl- Iar role, that of George Macfarlane,1 the wealthy young man of culture nnd leisure seeking adventure, which he surely obtains before the curtain falls on the Inst act of tho play. Dolly Kammon, the heroine, was nicely portrayed by Miss Mary Orion. And Miss Lillian Orton, whose face was new to theatre goers, made a hit in tho character of "Violet," tho hard-boiled hard-boiled friend of tho arch villian, Simp Calloway, a desperado, handled in fairly good shape by Charlio Bcntley. Thornton Brown, friend of Macfarlane, Macfar-lane, was not a heavy rolo, but was pleasingly taken by L. N. Marsdcn, Jr. The value of enuncintion cannot bo overestimated in stage work, and because be-cause Taylor Miller failed to appre ciate this fnct, ho nearly spoiled his interpietntion of the rolo of sheriff, which otherwise would havo been nbovo par. As it was tho audience lost the purport of more thnrt half of what he said. Cultivate speaking plainly, Mr. Miller, nnd you will make a success of your work. Taken as a whole, tho play was well presented nnd was generally commended com-mended by thoso present. Wo will be pleased to havo another visit from our Parownn friends when thoy hnvo their next piny ready for presentation. - |
