Everything indicates that Cedar City's Chautauqua this year will stand out as one of our most brilliant achievements ach-ievements five days of entertainment entertain-ment nnd instruction of the highest order every number a hendliner, with the reputation of the Ellison-White organization behind it. Ours will bo tho only summer Chautauqua Chau-tauqua to bo held south of Beaver in Utah this year, and it will puy tho people of the threo southern counties of tho stnto to attend. i The only perpetual springs of life's self-renewals for the natural charm of youth is found in recreation. Do you know Cedar's on the map of supervised su-pervised play? I Did you see the boys and girls on the B. A. C. campus Thursday afternoon? after-noon? Hip, hip, hurrah! 21 girls and nbout ns many boys. A good start. Baso ball, volley ball, basket ball, croquet and tennis B. A. G. campus Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 3:30 p. m. No charges. 1 Three afternoons each week two women nnd some girls will be in chnrgc of playgrounds nt the park.! Children up to nnd including 9 yearn of ago will be cared for from 3:h0 until G p. m. Your boys too busy to play? Assign As-sign the work tho day before and see them dig in tho morning in order to piny in the nftcrnoon. Do you want your boy to have pop, bo trustworthy, helpful, kind, obedient, thrifty, clean and reverent? Hnve him join tho Scouts. "Scouting is the process of muking renl men out of real boyB." And Cedar City has n troop with real Scout leaders. Say, how about that quart of rhubarb, rhu-barb, currants, gooseberries, beets or carrots for the school lunch? Have , you dried some carrots, spinach, turnips, tur-nips, etc., while you're thinning them out? In tho Child Welfare campaign of Cedar City no new organizations have been formed to carry out the projects, but certain committees havo been appointed ap-pointed to nssist the officers already in chargo in our local clubs and church organizations. The outline for tho year's work embraces supervised play, supervised work, a free dentnl clinic nnd the establishing of a school lunch. Those backing the movement nt present pres-ent are: Farm Bureau and schools, through the club workers, the Mutuals through tho Boy Scouts and Beehive girls, tho Relief Society and the Homo Economics club; tho Mnyor and City Council havo also extended n willing and helping hnnd. Are you hunting some one to mow tho lawn, weed tho garden, paint tho1 fence, milk tho cow, etc.? Ask Mr.' Esplin, Mr. Price or Mr. Milne. Some' of their boys nro hunting jobs. I i Club Work. Committee: Esplin, Lewis, Milno and Price. Supervised Play and Work. Committee: Com-mittee: Mesdnmcs Ryan, Lundgren, Leigh, Foster, Lundell; R. A. Thorloy nnd H. Milne. Supervisor all over 10 years Herbert Her-bert Milno. Supervisor all under 10 years Mrs. Hannah Foster. Boy Scouts. Masters, Esplin and Milno. Beehive Girls. Keepers, Mesdnmcs Corry, Spilsbury, Webster, Booth. Chairman Dental Clinic Mrs. R. S. Gardner. School Lunch Committee Presidency Presiden-cy of Relief Society, Fcrm Bureau and Home Economics club. Albert Lundell camo down from his ranch on Cedar mountain last night. Charley Bechtol, who has been sinking sink-ing a shaft on tho Mastodon mino in Goldstrikc, Washington county, called up his associates in the enterprise in Cednr yesterday to break tho news to them of a promising strike-. The shaft which ho has been sinking has cut the vein, for which ho has been working and tho oro penetrated makes tho surfare cropping "look Hko thirty cents" in comparison. There is every indication that tho Mastodon mfno will develop into a silver-lead producer. |
