Show u CONVENTION OF FEDERATION OF CATHOLIC SOCIETIES. American Federation of Catholic Societies will meet in convention at Atlantic City, N. J., Aug. 1-5. Since the Chicago convention, federation fed-eration has made progress far beyond expectations of its most enthusiastic friends. On its membership roster now appear the names of nearly all the prominent societies in the United States and Porto Rico. The movement move-ment has received the endorsement of his excellency, the papal delegate, eight archbishops, forty-five bishops and hundreds of prominent priests. It is carryig out the mission laid down in the encyclicals cf our Holy Father,-Pope Father,-Pope Leo XIII. To answer Federation's Federa-tion's call is but to respond willingly will-ingly and courageously to the invitation invita-tion sent out to the Catholics of the whole world by our great pontiff and to take an active interest in those public pub-lic duties devolving upon Catholic citizens citi-zens of our day. The constitution provides that representation rep-resentation at this convention shall be from state federations, where such exist; ex-ist; from state leagues and from county coun-ty federations, where no state federations federa-tions exist; and that such representation representa-tion shall be on the basis of one delegate dele-gate for each 1,000 members, or major fraction thereof. Each county or state federation, even though its membership member-ship should fall below 1,000, shall be entitled to at least one delegate. National Na-tional organizations shall be entitled to one delegate at large for each 10,-000 10,-000 of its membership. All organizations and federations wishing representations, should secure se-cure their credential blanks from the national secretary, Mr. Anthony Matre, No. 612 E. Pearl street, Cincinnati, Cincin-nati, O., not later than July 25. |
