Show FLIRTATION. , "Flirting is a sign of woman's inferiority. infer-iority. It is a survival of the age when women, in order to secure a mate, had to resort to the devices of the lower creatures of the forest and field. Among the arts of civilized women of today flirtation should be as obsolete as are the wooden spears and crossbows cross-bows of centuries ago. To the high-minded high-minded woman love is so sacred a thing that she will not in any way treat it lightly or make any pretense in the matter. Thus does she make her love the more prized when she at length bestows it, and thus she saves herself heartaches and regrets. If you value your own" self-respect don't flirt. It is a cruel game, and never worth while. If you want amusement, get it in tennis, golf, boating, cycling and in pleasant friendships, but leave flirtation severely alone. Healtful sports are good for all, but the "scalp hunting" some girls indulge in lowers themselves and always causes misery. Reading the above, the unsophisti- rated middle-aged person might imagine imag-ine that none but a girl ever flirted. I Did you ever . know a man given to flirtation? Many a young man, spoiled from his cradle by his women folks, thinks girls are in existence solely for his amusement. And he flirts from one rosebud garden to another without any intention of any sort, save to pas3 away the time and get all the fun possible. Conventionality gives privilege privi-lege to a man denied to a girl. He sees a girl whose father has money or one who wears stylish clothes, or who is musical, or who "feeds" and he attaches at-taches himself to her. After a few weeks of it, she feels that he belongs to her; other young men consider her engaged: her own family looks .upon it as settled. Then- his " attentions slacken, and finally, cease. She is questioned ques-tioned and cannot answer; "she is misjudged mis-judged and cannot defend herself: she has "a sore heart and has no redress. The flirting butterfly has found an- other attraction and has dropped tlio girl he -lias ( ompromis d. : No yirl should allow particular and 1 public attentions from any yoim ; man.
