Show Uses for Turpentine. In the spring turpentine is a sure preventive against moths; by dropping drop-ping a trifle in the drawers, trunks and cupboards it will render the garments gar-ments secure. It will keep ants from the closets and sore rooms if a few drops are put in the corners and upon the shelves, while if one has been unfortunate un-fortunate enough to encounter the festive bug that inhabits the "bed, a little turpentine applied to its haunts will bring sure destruction. One tablespoonful added to a bucket buck-et of warm water is excellent for cleaning paint. Turpentine is used in laundry work in conjunction with ammonia to remove re-move paint stains from colored clothes. The two liquids are mixed and the stain dipped in and rubbed until it disappears. It is also used in cold water starch to make the iron pass along the fabric smoothly. Proportions, Pro-portions, four drops to one table-spoonful table-spoonful of starch. As a remedy it gives quick relief to burns. |
