Show Home Thoughts From Europe. Oh, it's home again, and home again, America for me! My heart is turning home again to God's countrie. To the land of youth and freedom, beyond be-yond the ocean bars, Where the air is full of sunshine and the flag is full of stars. It is good to see the Oold World, and travel up and down Among the famous countries and the cities of renown, To admire the chrumbly castles, and the monuments and kings. But soon or late you have enough of antiquated things, So it's home again, and homo again, etc. Oh, London is a man's town, there's power in the air, And Paris is a woman's town, with j flowers in her hair; J And it's sweet to loaf in Venice, and j it's great to study Rome; j But when it comes to living, there is ! no place like home. So it's home again, and home again, etc. I like the German fir-woods, in green battalions drilled; I like the gardens of Versailles witFi flaslilng fountains filled; But, oh, to take your hand, my dear, and ramble for a day In the friendly western woodland where Nature has her way! So it's home again, and home again, etc. Oh, Europe Is a fine place, yet something some-thing seems to lack. The past is too much with her, and the people looking back; But life is in the present, and the vu-ture vu-ture must be free; We love our land for what she is, and what she is to be. So it's home again, and home again, America for me! My heart is turning home again to God's countrie, To the blessed land of Room-Enough, beyond the ocean bars. Where the air is full of sunshine and the flag is full of stars. Henryl Van Dyke. |
