Show JUBILEE OF BISHOP MAES. ". 1 -The episcopal silver, jubilee o,f . the .Rt;iRev. jCa-millus jCa-millus P. Maes, Bishop of Covington, Ky;, was celebrated on Wednesday. Bishop Maes is regarded as the first citizen of Covington' as well as the honored hon-ored head of the Church in .that diocese and the whole-city was. a mass of purple and white bunting in honor of the occasion. The Rt. Rev. J. P. Far-relly, Far-relly, D. D., of Cleveland, was among the distinguished distin-guished participants in the celebration. Other prelates present were: Bishops Chatard, Indianapolis; Hartley, Columbus; O'Donaghue, Louisville ; Dunn, Peoria, 111.; Alerding,' Ft. Wayne; Byrne, Nashville; Ilarkins, -Providence, R. I.; Van de Vyver, Richmond, Va. ; Lawler, St. Paul. Minn.; Abbots. Obreeht. Getlisemane, Ky.; Bernard. O. S. B., Cuiman, Ala.; Msgr. Murray, V. G., Cincinnati; Cincin-nati; Specht, V. 'G., Columbus; Schrembs, V. G., Grand Rapids; Chartrand, V. G., Indianapolis. Pontifical mass was celebrated by Bishop Maes in the Cathedral at 9:30 o'clock. Father Brossart, V. G.. was assistant priest and all the officers of the Mass were priests of the. diocese. A banquet to the clergy followed the Mass. The Bishop . was presented with a purse of $4,000 by the laity of Covington and $3,500 by the-priests of the diocese. |
