Show MISSOULA, MONT. One of the prettiest weddings that hag been seen in this city for some time took place Oct. 13. when Father Detour pronounced Patrick Murphy and Miss Kate Flynn man and wife. The bride is a well known young lady in Missoula Mis-soula society circles, and has resided at the home of her parents on Xorth Third street. The . groom is a w ell known man of Wallace, where he is employed by the Bell Telephone company. com-pany. The couple left for Portland, where they will spend their honeymoon. They were the recipients of many hand-' some and costly presents. They will make their home at Wallace. 4- St. Xavier's Catholic church in this city has undergone improvements costing cost-ing between $1,500 and $2,000. The improvements im-provements have but recently been completed, after being- under way for several months. They were largely demanded, de-manded, by the great increase in- the Sunday school attendance and membership, mem-bership, which has grown to 400. the largest in the history of the organization. organiza-tion. The basement has been enlarged and renovated throughout, and made into a school room. The furnaces were removed and reset in an extreme end of the- basement. City water has also been placed at convenient points in the church to be used in case of fire. The Avoodeu part of the tower has been tinned and the tower repainted. It had been the purpose of the church organization to purchase a pipe organ this year, but Father Palladino, the priest in charge, stated that the matter mat-ter had been abandoned temporarily, owing to the expense under which the church had been in making the repairs re-pairs and improvements. He. was given an option on an -organ that has been in use at the St. Louis exposition, and for a time thought very strongly of purchasing it. There were also some needed repairs to the old church building, which now stands on the Catholic property just west of the fine church edifice. The old building is used now. as. a hall for entertainments and also by the Ancient Order .of Hibernians, Hi-bernians, i , i Father Palladino states that' it is the intention to.erect-a fine new parochial residence during the coming year. Some time ago the plans were accepted which provide for a fourteen-room dwelling, to be constructed of brick with'stone trimmings. At tl time the plans were accepted,' the architect stated that the dwelling could be built for $7,000, but when bids were called for there was none less than $10,000. How ever, Father Palladino says that he believes- the house can be built for less ihan the amount of the lowest bid ordered, or-dered, a-Hd another effort will be made in the early spring to get lower bids. The present parochial residence is too small and inadequate for the resident priest and his two assistants. Fathe:s De Tour and Loiseau. The latter came to Missoula a few months ago to superintend su-perintend the work of the outside missions. |
