The party made the trip from Ogden in Mr. Smythe's handsome new car. Mrs. Mary Burton and daughter Evelyn of Idlewild, Ogden canyon, are visiting in Salt Lake. Miss Mildred Cuddy leaves on Sunday Sun-day for Hooper, where she will teach school. Miss Genevieve Brooks came in from Bingham last Saturday. Miss May O'Neil of Bingham is visiting vis-iting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank O'Neil. 1 Of the our eminent singers who are to give the first Orpheus club concert next Monday night. Campanari is probably the most gifted by nature. For years he was. or thought himself, only a 'cellist, and after his voice was discovered he never took a singing lesson les-son in his life. Instead, he began the study of the different Italian operas, and made his debut as a vocalist at the age of 19 in the La Scala opera house, where for two years he had been the leading 'cellist. His life since then has been devoted to his art, and he has been known since that time as Campanari, Cam-panari, the singer, not Campanari, the 'cellist, although gifted in that way, too. Colonel E. A. Wall, after leaving his daughters, the Misses Alice and Mary Wall, in Miss Finch's school in New York, has returned to Salt Lake. Mrs. E. M. Charlton left Thursday for the east, to be away only a short j time. I Mrs. D. E. Gleason of Ogden has been visiting friends in town for a few days. Mrs. John C. Daly entertained the Sewing club Friday at her home. Mrs. De Bouzek has as her guest her sister. Miss McDonald of Pueblo. Mrs. J. M. Moore was the hostess on Thursday at a luncheon for the members mem-bers of the Old Plate club at her home on First avenue. The table was bright with nasturtiums. The guests were Mrs. T. R. Black. Mrs. O. C. Nelson, Mrs. A. Fre dWey. Mrs. J. H. McMil- len, Mrs. J. T. Treasure. Mrs. Emmett Moore, Mrs. Fred Slade, Mrs. W. J. Lynch, Mrs. Lafayette Hanchett, Mrs. L. D. Peaslee and Miss McDonald of Pueblo. Mr. and Mrs. Edward McGurrin entertained en-tertained at a beautifully appointed dinner at the Alta club Sunday night in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Byrne of Omaha. Yellow chrysanthemums were the effective decorations, and aside from the guests of honor present were Mr. and Mrs. F. E. McGurrin. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Catrow, Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Robinson. Miss Gertrude Hanson. Miss Mayme Noble, Mr. O'Brien and Mr. Vanderlip. Mrs. James Stack of Eureka came in Monday to attend the funeral of Lucille Brennan. Msr. M. J. McGill returned to Park City last week, after a pleasant visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Mc-Sorley. Mc-Sorley. P. J. Tallon of Park City was in Salt Lake last week. Mrs. F. II. Young entertained Mrs. Patrick Tallon of Butte last week. Mrs. Victof Youngberg of Park City is the guest of her mother, Mrs. Mary Kirk. Mrs. M. J. Daily visited in Park City last week. Mrs. J. Corrigan and daughter, Margaret, Mar-garet, of Park City were Salt Lake visitors vis-itors last week. |
