Show ! BUTTE NOTES. The new parochial residence, situated on the southeast corner of Mercury and Washington streets, is nearing completion comple-tion and will be ready for occupancy this week. The fathers anticipate a delightful time in moving, etc. The building is quite an imposing mructure, tnd well may the members of St. Patrick's Pat-rick's parish be proud of it. It was badly needed, and all wish the fathers much happiness in their new home. ! Mrs. W. V. Lawler of Salt Lake is spending a few days in Butte. Mr. Alex H. Tarbet of Salt Lake, well known in mining circles throughout the Pacific coast, is at present visiting Butte and is stopping at the Butte Hotel. Mrs. Dr. Donnelly's many friends will be pleased to learn that she is recovering re-covering ranidlv under rnrofnl t-oof ment from her recent aatack of nleu-risy. nleu-risy. Rev. Father Van Den Broeck, of Dillon, Dil-lon, paid Butte a short visit this week, on his way to Anaconda. Mr. Harry N. Hollis. of Spokane, Wash., representing the Washington Mills Lumber Co., has been in the v-ity in the interest of the company. Mr. Holis speaks highely of .business in Spokane and thinks Butte is on the verge of a great building and financial boom. Si Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Lynch entertained a number of friends Thursday evening, March 29. at their beautiful home in West Park street, the occasion being the 20th anniversary of their marriage. The rooms were handsomely and richly decorated, flowers predominating. The guesta were Mr. and Mrs. Fayette Harrington, Har-rington, Mr. and Mrs. T. M. Hodgens Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Davis, Dr. and Mrs! T. A. Grigg, Judge and Mrs. Sullivan, Dr. D. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. J. A Canty, Mr. and Mrs. F. T. McBride and Charles Sullivan. On March 24 there was joy in the household of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Henry, 337 North Jackson street, caused by the arrival in the family circle of a fine baby boy. Rev.- M. J. Marsile cf St. Viator'3 College, Kankakee, 111., will open a mission for the French people of Butte at St. Patrick's Church on Sunday, i April 1. There will be a Solemn High Mass, . commencing at 12 o'clock, and the mission will continue for a week and perhaps longer. Father Marsile has the reputation of being an able and eloquent speaker, and as the exer- cises of the mission will be conducted I in the French language, the fathers of j St. Patrick's are most anxious that the j French Catholics residing in Butte and j vicinity should avail themselves of this j excellent .opportunity of hearing in-i in-i structions given fii their own language j and thereby to be ready to receive all the graces and benefits to be derived I from the mission. L. A. Sisley, the leading mining hro-! hro-! ker of Butte, spent a few days in the beginning of the week in Missoula county, visiting the miniig properties in which ho is interested. Mr. Sisley speaks enthusiastically of the 'mining prospects in that section, especially the mines belonging to the Denver-Rock Island Mining Co. Frak M. Sullivan, editor of the Montana Mon-tana Catholic, returned, on Monday after af-ter a pleasant trip to Chicago and other easterni cities. - I Richard J. He was a very capable young man and a legion of friends ini Butte are greatly grieved at his untimely death. Mr. Miller, manager of the Miner, has returned from the coast, where he spent some weeks, visiting friends. Misg Anna Martin left here last Saturday Sat-urday for Gregsoni Springs. She has been engaged to teach the summer term of school at that place. Hon. P. S. Harrington has gone to Salt Lake to undergo another surgical operation. Hist many friends in Butte most earnestly hope that the genial ex-mayor will be soora back amonigst them, fully restored to hie usual good health and spirits. -$ The mission which opened on last Sunday at St. Patricks for the special benefit of the French Catholics, has been very successful and Rev. Father Marsile is deeply gratified with the large attendance at the different exercises exer-cises and the large numbers who have approached the eacrament. Miss Grace Nowlin is able to be out again after quite a severe tussle with pneumonia. Mise O.'Leary has been confined to her home for several days with a 6evere cold. It is to be hoped that she will soon be able to be out again. A. H. Tarbet, who was here for a week looking over operations on the Smokehouse, has returned, to Salt Lake. |
