Butte, April 4. Commencing on Palm Sunday the Catholic Church comenxjratss ir. 'a solemn manner the pa-.-ion and death f the Redeemer of mankind and the seremonies during the coming week at St. Patrick's Church will be unusually grand and impressive. On Sunday at last maps the palms I will be blessed and distributed to the congregation, to be followed by a grand high mass, during which the a-ioii will be fung by one of the priests. After mass the Forty Hour adoration will commence. The Blessed Sacrament will be carried in eolema procession through the Church, preceded pre-ceded by the children of St. Patrick's school, carrying lighted tapers. The Blessed Sacrament wiil then be exposed on the high altar for the adoration of the faithful and will so remain until Tuesday morning when the services will terminate the singing of high mass, to be followed by the chanting of the Litany of Sainta by the priests, and the ceremony closing with the singing of a solemn Te Dum by the members of the choir. On Holy Thursday, the services will commence at 9 o'clock with singing of high mats to be followed by a procession pro-cession of the Blessed Sacrament which will then be placed in a receptacle on one of the side altars where the members mem-bers of the Church can come and adore their Blessed Savior. After mass the beautiful ceremony of the Kissing of the Cross by the faithful takep place and in the afternoon in accordance with a most piotis and ancient ousiom. carried out in Catholic countries, the sations of Cross are gone over by the members of ! the congregation. In the evening there will be a sermon on the passion of our Saviour. On Holy Saturday the ceremonies cere-monies will be carried out with more than usual pomp and splendor. The services will commence at S o'clock with blessing of the paschal candle by the officiating- priest who will also bless the Easter water, after which a solemn high mass will be sung and this will eloso the ceremonies' for Holv wte. |
