Show IEEIII DROWNED III IliLE ACCIDENT Bingham Man Drowned in Wyoming Wyo-ming When Au':o Pinned Him Underneath Water in River. i " J. V. Gutierrez is Survived by Wife and Two Sons. . Three men were drowned Saturday afternoon when the heavy machine in which they were riding went over a ten-foot embankment and pinned them beneath it in a shallow creek. The accident occurred on the edge of Willow Wil-low Creek Gap, near Kemmerer, Wyo., at 2:30 o'clock in the afternoon. The dead are J. V. Gutierrez of 3G9 . Main street, Bingham, field superintendent superin-tendent for the American Producers . & Refining company, a' Pacific coast corporation; William Bigler, a well driller whose home is in 'Oakland, Cal., from which point he came overland over-land a few days ago, and Oren F. Hall a truck driver of Salt Lake, whose parents live at Moab. Hall was married mar-ried in Salt (Lake shortly after coming com-ing here two months ago. He was an overseas veteran and a member of " the American Legion. He was stationed sta-tioned at Fort Douglas until his honorable discharge several weeks ago. A passing car noticed the overturned over-turned machine and investigating noted one body under it. Going to the nearest ranch, the automobilist noti- - .. tied the sheriff and several automo-biles automo-biles went to the scene. It took four teams to pull the car from the bed of the stream, uncovering the men's bodies. . . , .. Indications' are that the car " was ' ' " v ' '- $ ' traveling fast-when it struck a boul- '. der at the end of a narrow bridge, landing lengthwise in the stream, which is about the width of the car and nearly four feet deep. The bodies do not show injuries which in any case would have caused death had it not been for the water. Gutierrez and Bigler were employed by the American Producing and Refining Re-fining company of California, and Hall was employed as a truck driver for Charles Lackey, oil well operator in the Dry Piney field. Gutierrez was 36 years of age and had lived in Bingham for four years. He is survived by his wife and two boys. 14 and 15 years of age, respectively. respec-tively. Bigler is single. Fort Douglas authorities said last night that Oren M. Hall was discharged dis-charged a few weeks ago. He secured a furlough from July 8 to August 7 to go to Thompsons, Utah. His record included in-cluded the statement that, in case of accident, Mrs. J. C. Hall of Moab, presumably pre-sumably his mother, should be notified. noti-fied. He was a member of the L. D. S. chtirch and just before his discharge asked for permission to go to Salt Lake to get married. |
