Show FORBES' DAY A few of the Influential citizens waited on me a short time back and asked ir I would not act as chairman and proraoto a "Forbes" day as a testimonial to the llfo's labors of our worthy and well beloved citizen and friend, Joseph 11. Forbes, who has given the major and best part or his useful llfo to this community and Its citizens. It Is a subject I am very much Interested In, and while I liavo a groat many labors and duties already al-ready upon me, I cheerfully accept of tho responsibility and will do the very best I can to arrango a day and program for this purpose 1 think I expressed the sentiments of tho great majority of tho citizens of this com. munlty, when I' sny that I consider It an honor to meet and show our ap preclatlon for tho splendid scrvlco nnd faithful labors of a man I respect nnd lovo. He hns given all of us something that In more precious than pcld nnd worth much moro than tho plamllts of men. No one knows the benefits that will result from the lain la-in rs of this great man. He has given giv-en many a man nnd woman tho right stnit In llfo. Ho has taught our children, ho Ins tntght us, and ho has biiight our fath'ors nnd mothers nnd In many Instances has taught our grandparents tho things that make for men and women. I havo decided on Arlwr day In April, Ap-ril, It being a holiday, to meet nnd , show our appreciation and testify ef ( the benefits that havo come to us ' through the efforts nnd capnbllty of our worthy benefactor.
