Show A communication CATION 11 utah june esth 1911 editor carbon county news in your issue of may 1911 there is a communication on ccarty roada roads by D W C of cleveland who was very positive that he waa was in for the new road now while I 1 believe that he thinks he ia Is in auch such a humor I 1 think also that he Is to not well informed on the subject or that he lived on the proposed new route or badts his judge ment on hie his personal desires for no sane man who has lived long in n cleveland or would make auch such a OF silly how flow often has D W C and every other roan man for that matter left that name same old mud hole during the wet searon 4 if the year and pulled for the west or the old huntington Hunti neton road over the hilla hills where hero there la is nothing but a sage braih to lonk look at and made his way lo 10 price I 1 think he must have gone that way to eee see the ahad scale I 1 am anthi very moment bitting sitting face to face with a resident of D W ca Cs own on the new now proposed route and he says a that during the vt wet et season of the year it is ab absolutely so impossible to travel that route lie ile has seen wagons and buggies pulled to pieces down there now we who are of the traveling put lie of emery county know why the the tle emery county commissioners turned down the proposition and were not duped by certain cert airs parties who wanted a job they have lived here too long in fact they are too old and smart to be caught with auch such rot wa we do not object to carbon county working any scheme they wish to induce people to settle ettle there but not at the extence of emery co who have made price what it is edday to dayI 0 1 wonder if D W C knows known why the Gov government mail route from price via Clevel had to was discontinued continued dia avd the present route from price to huntington established because nobody would bid on that part of the route it if D W C will stand up and listen I 1 will tell him a few facts that he may not know I 1 he route proposed by the carbon county commissioners as given to the writer by one of their bumbar begins at price and runs thence east to a point near the old charles taylor ranch on price creek thence due south through tho the center of sections 3 10 16 15 22 and ani at RIO E salt lake meridian of each townsite te that it passes through until it crosses the county line between carbon and emery counties four and one half hall miles emt of tho the present gifun hington road this line if continued on an the same line mouth would pass throb desert lake and the center of cedar mountain and nearly misa miss tho the buck horn flat project it would leave hington to the west 9 5 miles castle dale miles orangeville Orang eville 13 miles perron 18 miles n emery milea miles and flay say nothing of the coal camps to the west of ua us now if it the road bears west from where it crosses the county line between emery ind and carbon oun loun ties then it would tw alst aj as crooked as the old road can be strength ened in several places and make in about three miles io borter than at pro pre it would then be less than 20 miles from price to huntington whereas th the 0 new proposal route would add dd on blout 6 milea miles making the road nearly 30 miles between thee two points end und no straighter te r than at present now I 1 am satisfied that the people of emery ct caty 1 ty would not object to getting on the map of emery county but rould question the propriety of mopping off all the towns to give it a right of way signed Q E D utah |
