Show IDAHO PROMOTION IS TRADE BOOSTER REPORTS INDICATE BOISE, Feb 6 It's still too early to present a graphic picture of effect ef-fect of Idaho Potato and Onion Week in increasing demand for the two Gem State products in eastern markets, but field representatives repre-sentatives have supplied the Idaho Advertising Commission with assurances as-surances the promotion was as successful, suc-cessful, if not more so, than the same promotion a year ago, L. E. Sargent, commission secretary, said today. Sargent quoted from a report of Lloyd Bell, dealer service man, on what happened in Charleston, W. Va. Bell wrote: "As predicted on my recent report re-port on this - market, Idaho Potato Week went over with a bang here! 'Doubled our Idaho potato sales', one 06 theleading brokers advises. 'Am getting very favorable reports from, my salesmen all over the territory, ter-ritory, and, as far as we are concerned, con-cerned, the promotion has been a success,' comments the salesman-ager salesman-ager of a large wholesaler." Came reports to Sargent from two other sources of the effectiveness effective-ness of the Idaho merchandising program. He referred to an item in Congressman Henry Dworshak's weekly column of Jan. 25. Dwor-shak Dwor-shak wrote; "Governor Heil of Wisconsin was meeting 'Congressmen in the RepuD-lican RepuD-lican cloakroom recently and, when Introduced to your congressman, declared that his state produced many potatoes, but he marvelled at the prestige of the Idaho product. He continued: 'Idaho is doing the best job of marketing her potatoes of any state with any agricultural product.' i This indicates what others think of the advertising of our famous spud and lends encouragement encour-agement that possibly we are doing a much better job than we believe." |
