Show Nine Newcomers To Teach In Preston City Schools During 1940-41 Nine changes in the personnel of the Preston City schools was announced this week by 'Acting Supt. E. R. Spilsbury. The changes are listed as follows: Senior High Carl A. Evans ot Evanston, Wyo.. will replace W. H. Handley in the commercial department. de-partment. Mr. Handley lias accepted ac-cepted a teaching position at the Weber Junior college in Ogden. Utah. Mr. Evans has been acting principal and commercial teachei in the Evanston high school and has taught at Ashton, Idaho, for two years. He has his bachelor and master degrees from the University Uni-versity of Idaho and attended summer sum-mer school at the University i California at Berkeley. Miss Bessie Dillon will teach homo economics in place of Miss Alta Hirst who has been granted a year's leave of absence. Miss Dillon graduated from the University Univer-sity of Idaho in 1929 and got hei master's degree at the University of Minnesota this summer. She has taught at Malad and Kimberly high (school. Stephen J. Lundquist of Ogden will replace H. C. Christensen who has accepted a position in the Granite school district n Salt Lake City. Mr. Lundquist has a bachelor's bache-lor's and Master's degree in music mu-sic from the Brigham Young University Uni-versity and has spent two summers sum-mers at the University of Cali-firniu. Cali-firniu. He lias been an assistant in the musie department at the BYU and last year taught at North Emery high school at Huntington, Utah. Replacing Miss Eldnra Peterson who was married this summer will ; be Miss Cora Ilorbison in the girls ; physical education department i Miss Ilorbison is a graduate of the - Montana State college and taught last year at Miles City, Montana. Junior High Miss Virginia Sant of Clifton and graduate of the USAC will replace Miss Margaret Thomas in the music department. Jefferson Miss Yvonne Merrill of Preston will take over the fifth grade class taught by Miss Ann Meadows last year. Miss Merrill is a three-year normal graduate ot the USAC. Miss Gladys Hoggan, a graduate of the Albiin State Normal will replace re-place Miss Berg. Central Miss Jean Ellis of Winaper, Idaho, will replace Miss Kathryn Grisinger in the second grade. Miss Ellis is a three-year ' formal graduate of the Univer sity of Idaho. South. Miss Nellie Peterson of Harvard, Idaho, and a graduate of the Lew-i Lew-i iston State Nonial srehool, wiJl replace Miss Gladys -tock in the J fourth grade. Miss Stock has ac cepted employment ill Buffalo, Wy I oming. |
