Show Lewiston Man Killed While At Work i ! Crushed Between Tractor And Thresher; Four Time Missionary Martin Harris Pond, 51, prominent prom-inent Lewiston fanner, was killed instantly Wednesday when he was crushed between a tractor and a threshing machine. According to reports Mr. Poudi was driving the tractor and was caught between it and an ovehang-ing ovehang-ing part of the threshing machine. The accident is believed to have 'occiirred when the driver's foot slipped from the clutch pedal, causing the tractor to lurch backward back-ward into the threshing machine. Mr. Pond was dead before he could be released from between the machines. Harold Pond, 17, a nephew witnessed the accident. He was born in Lewiston, August Aug-ust 31, 188S, a son of Martin and Martha Harris Pond. He married Valera Taggart in the Logan LDS temple in June, 1930. Foo 4S years he had lived on the same farm, operating it in partnership with his brother Stillman. He was a member of the Benson LDS stake high priests' quorum and had served four missions in the Tahitan, southern states, and California LDS missions. He also was an officer of the Lewiston Third ward MIA. Surviving are his widow; his mother, three sons, Martin Jr.. James T. and Delwin Pond ot Lewiston; Mrs. T. R. Jenkins of Sugar City, Idaho, Mrs. G. R. Kar-ren Kar-ren of Drummond, Montana; Mrs. Mary T. Carter, Mrs. J. Lavon Earl and Genevieve Pond of Logan. |
