J money of Cedar City was WM killed Friday when a mine cave In pinned him beneath a slab of stone Victor and his brother Arthur and Shirley Carlson all of Eureka were working In the North Lily mine near Eureka and were working a n alease alease lease at the mine six sets below the 1200 foot 1200 foot level The victim was going goIng going go- go Ing about his work when a slab fell feU striking him on the head avid aid knocking him unconscious His Hh brother rushing to the scene picked picked pick pick- ed up the Injured man and started toward the mine entrance when a second slab fell feU knocking the victim victim vie vic vic vic- tim from the brothers brother's arms and pinning him to the floor of the mine and breaking his back The accident at p.m. p.m. p.m. p. p m. m Friday and the Injured man succumbed to his hL Injuries at 4 p. p m. m Arthur Viertel was uninjured and Carlson suffered a broken leg and body bruises Funeral services were held In Eur Eureka ka Monday afternoon under the auspices of the Elks lodge Mr Viertel was born in Eureka on November 17 1899 1699 a son of ofGus ofGus ofGus Gus A.
