Show BEAVERS DAM ' TOO RIVER It Is reported that the beavers are ' damming Provo River. They cut down trees and build dams by night as fast as tho farmers can destroy them by day, It is declared The farmers havo complained to the Stato game and fish commissi, oner asking him to come and tnko away the beavors or kill them. Some farmers havo threatened to kill thorn lr tho state commissioner does not get busy. The beavers' dam is flooding the land and holding back tho water. Tha farmers get out and tear away tho dam, It Is stated, but within two days the beavers havo cut enough trocs to build it up again. There Is a state lav' against the killing of beavers, so the problem will probably have to be solved by tho state officials. Tho largest of the dams Is about a mile west of the bridge, at tha north line of the Knudson farm. There are two smaller dams, each about a half mllo from tho larger one In each direction. Mr. Knudson said that last spring two beavers made their appearance on the river. Now he family has grown Mr. Knudsen thinks, to probably a j dozen, and nil aro hard workers, as j Is shown by tho dams they built nnd the trees they destroyed. |
