ST T LOUIS lOUI YOUTH LO LOSES ES LIFE BY f FULL FALL ll FROM CLIFF Information comes from Zion National National Na Na- Na-I Na Park that Eugene Cafferata 19 of St. St L Louis Mo lost last his life some time i Tuesday afternoon by falling failing from a cliff on Lady Mountain The young man left the lodge statIng statIng stat stat- Ing lag that he was going to walk to Emerald Pool about two two miles Nothing was thought of It until late that night when he failed to return rangers and officials of the lodge were apprehensive and started a search Twenty-five Twenty men continued the search Wednesday and until Thursday afternoon when his body was found near the foot of Lady Mountain Investigation of ot where the young man went resulted in hi finding that af after after after af- af ter he visited Emerald Pool he hiked up the Lady Mountain following the trail leading to the top After reachIng reachIng reaching reach- reach I Ing there he registered as Is the cus- cus toom of ot all who make the ascent Returning Returning Re Re- turning he apparently got off the trail and slipped over a cliff about feet In height landing on a rock and bouncing a short distance to a level place Markings where he fell feU Indicate that the fall faU did not kill him outright and he must have lIv lived d for three or four hours following the fall Ills His body was terribly bruised lung punctured ed and several bones broken His Bis mother who lives in St. St Louis was waS waS' notified of the tragedy and she left Immediately for Zion Canyon ar arriving arriving ar- ar riving today The body will be shipped to St St. St St. Louis for Interment The victim of the tragedy was a medical student of Harvard Hanard Medical College College and and had bad come cometo to Zion Canyon on his vacation In company with Mrs John G. G Faust and sop son the latter beIng be being be ing a school chum of the deceased |
