| Show Business Men len V Want ant I Franchise Instead Of License System I routine business was attended to by the City Council at Its regular Thursday night the question of the Southern Utah Power Company franchise having ha been tabled until a later date while other matters were discussed Lafayette McConnell filed a petition signed by many of the business s men of Cedar asking for a change from the system of licensing businesses to a franchise system Mr McConnell In l presenting resenting his case argued that the move was for the purpose of securing protection for the merchants against peddlers and others who come into town for short sales etc The City attorney gave ga an of offhand hand opinion that it be Impractical because a hearing on each franchise would woud be bs necessary and then an ordinance would need to be published which he maintained would make the expense so high that it would offset the bene bene- fits However lIo the petition was referred to the finance committe Mrs Mm Dewey Thorley and E. E M M.
