Show Wellsville Ready With Founders' Day Program Sept J 3,4,5 ot Brief History of Events. Leading up to Big Annual Affair, held in Valley's Oldest Community. Founders' Day celebration will be held at Wellsville, September 3, 4, and 5 and as it should be, every year the annual affair is just a little better than the celebration cele-bration the previous year. This year the program and entertainment entertain-ment has' been provided with that thought in mind. It was 82 years ago or Septem- ' ber 15th. 1856 that a small band of pioneers lead by Peter Maugh-an Maugh-an came into Cache Valley to make their homes. White men had been in this beautiful valley before but none for the purpose of making a permanent home. They had been here for the purpose pur-pose of trapping and making money from the fur business but now come the band that was to make Cache Valley blossom as a rose. They came to settle and to worship God as they desired. "Did, they succeed? Look at the valley now, just 82 years later. What will it be like in that many more years? Remember then it was . nearly ' covered . with willows and had been known once as Willow Valley Val-ley because of so many willows. Today, fine farms, beautiful surroundings sur-roundings and a happy people By those of us who live now to much praise can not be given those early pioneers and we should do them honor at least once a year, and so the oldest city in the valley has a celebration each year for all its people. Eight years ago there was erected a monument in their honor on the Wellsville park and each year since, between the first and the 15th of September the celebration has taken place. This year it will be September 3, 4 and 5, Labor day, and as above stated the committees are doing everything possible to make it the I best yet. j The celebration will begin Sept. 1 3rd at 8 p. m. with a Rodeo on the Ball Park under the lights.
