C Muir representing the National Thrift Corporation Corporation Corporation Cor Cor- with offices in Los Angeles California who have been in this vicinity vicinity vicinity vicin vicin- ity for several days were speakers yesterday yesterday yesterday yes yes- at the weekly Rotary Luncheon at nt the El Escalante Mr Milnes Milne's remarks re remarks re- re marks were rather brief and more Inthe in inthe inthe the nature of a greeting to many former friends and acquaintances who are now members of the Rotary Club He Jokingly excused his brevity by saying that he had prepared a speech which Mr Muir would deliver Mr Muir said in part that tha Cedar City is Ia literally in the lap of fortune Then he proceeded to recount re recount recount re- re count some of the reasons for that statement mentioning particularly our mineral livestock s scenic and other otherL L I attractions He lie said if it Los Angeles I which he now claims as his hIa home though he was a Utahn for two forty-two I I years had the scenic beauties surrounding surrounding sur sur- rounding Cedar City within a hundred miles or three hundred miles mUes they would include those beauties in their corporate limits and literally build Los Angeles around them Mr Milne MUne is well known to most of our readers as a former student of the Branch Normal and for many years superintendent of the State Industrial School Mr Muir was at one time Urne State Superintendent of Public In In- Other visitors at the luncheon were Mr Ellison Ellson of the Consolidated Music Co Mr Ralph E. E Drowne Drown who is here from New York making a survey suney of our Juvenile court methods and W W.
