Show DESTRUCTIVE DESTRUCT FIRE IT AT LUNT FARM I loT loT- LARGE BARN LAMBING I AND FEEDING PENS CORALS COR CORRALS CO- CO RALS AND TWO HUNDRED TONS OF OP IIA HAY Y GO UP IN SMOKE lot io lot lot- Wednesday morning the fire alarm sounded and the fire department made a record run to the Lunt Farm three and one-half one miles north of this ci city y where thel t the fire flitting fighting boys boyS' found the large largo barn lambing and feed peni pens corrals and tons of hay burning fiercely ly When th the fire department arrived on the scene it took the boys bors but bot a afew few moments to build a dam in the Union field canal connect the pump and begin begin throwing a large large stream of water on on the burning barn and sad contents A heavy wind from the south was blowing which fanned the tho flames and within a short time the entire structure nearly feet long by 40 feet wide was a roaring inferno and although the boys played the stream tream of of water over the mass mass it burned briskly and gradually consumed ed everything inside and andall all the pens sheds and corrals adjoining There was little chance of saving anything although two small frame houses standing near the tle corrals were saved but would have gone up in smoke had the boys been a few few- minutes later in arriving on the scene A As it was the frame buildings buildings' were badly scorched and fire had bad started on the west walls of each each- They were saved caved with but little damage dam dam damage age ring ing done The barn hay pens and sheds together together to to- gether with harnesses tools etc inthe Inthe in inthe the barn were totally destroyed The loss los is estimated to be around eight thousand dollars with very little tittle insurance in on the property r The property destroyed outside of or the contents of the barn belonged t to the Henry Lunt estate while the hayand hay bay hayand and barn contents belonged to Walace Wallace Wallace Wal Wal- lace and Hunter Lunt In lo lot |
