house of burgesses that mr Jeffer jefferson sou first met patrick henry who had bad just entered upon this his brilliant career the great commoner was by nature a bold and free thinker but he was completely captivated by the wonderful oratory oratory of his dashing young friend patrick patrici henry the first and most important work which was performed by him was to draw up resolutions constituting the basis of the reply to the speech which had been delivered in the house of burgesses by lord bote the royal personage became very indignant at mr jefferson for presuming to reply to his speech and he immediately dissolved the house of burgesses without further ceremony cere mouy eighty e eight of the members thereafter formed b a importation non uon league as against british
