Show HERES HERE'S SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT Contributed Do Doo the people of Cedar realize that we ve e have havo an nn unemployment problem m Do you know that a numb number r of children of our little town ore are actually starving starving ing because their fathers lathers have had no work all nil winter The other day a teacher of th the public schools not being able to endure the starved haunted look on a few childrens children's faces any longer wrote n a note home asking if there were any objection to the children having a quart of i milk a aday day The father replied that It would be very cry nice but he couldn't afford it The teacher a married woman by the way had not made clear that she meant to furnish the thc milk herself Now she goes to school each cach morning with a bottle of milk under her arm Another child came to school with an older persons person's heavy sweater on This same teacher wished him to remove it to prevent his taking biking cold when he left the building But the little one refused After much coaxing he consented but the teacher found that she could not embarrass him and herself herself her her- self by displaying a n shirt that was no more than a few shreds The underwear underwear under under- wear was pitiful This noble woman went immediately to the store and bought with her hard earned money a n shirt overalls and underwear Why cannot some of our many organizations function in such cases as these Why cant can't we all aU help by giving attention to the unemployment problem Why cannot a free employment bureau be established and amI the Commercial Club the Rotary Club the Relief Society the Womans Woman's Club and other organizations aid in finding work especially for fathers of families H Here re is a problem for all aU of us not only to THINK about but to DO SOMETHING SOMETHING SOME SOME- THING about We have been clothing and housing the Indians while they sit on t the e sunny sunnyside sunnyside side of the street Why cant can't we provide work for honest self-respecting self fathers that their children might not starve while the more fortunate of ofus ofus ofus us ride about in our limousines |
