Show THE NASHVILLE exposition ja JOHN HN W JUDD chairman of the utah tennessee centennial corn com mission returned return eB the past week I 1 from visiting his old tennessee friends and the nashville exposition judge judd informed the broad ax that he formed the acquaintance of hon richard hill and that gentleman escorted him through all parts of the negro building the building is three story structure the main floor contains all the agricultural implements such as plows harrows barrows rakes wagons buggies and harnesses the minerals which the broad A ax collected for the fisk university is enclosed in a handsome glass case which occupies a very conspicuous spica ous position right by the main entrance the second story contains musical instruments of every description a complete model of the two leading negro banking institutions of the south and a great variety of books written by negro authors and manufactured b by y our oar own artisans and a miscellaneous assortment of other interesting articles the art aft gallery is located on the third floor and we are informed by the judge that about one thousand sand magnificent oil paintings crayons pastels and photographs adorn the walls of that floor all of those paintings have been executed by artists of both sexes and a great many of them are the highest perfection of the painters art we are also informed by judge judd that aalthe all needlework quilts curios and bric a braca all add to the beautiful display on the third floor our informant is firmly of the opinion that no person can visit the negro building without being thoroughly convinced that the negro race is marching upward and onward |
