Show BOUT ABOUT THOSE SIGN BOARDS 00 Well Id I'd Say It Is Too Bad 00 I Lund Utah Nov 1924 Mr Editor Editor Editor- I just couldn't keep still for those t signs boards remind me of the play When the light failed tailed We Wo can all visualize the blind painter showing his its last gr great at painting which has been seen blurred and hacked into pieces j but iut he is blind and to him it is yet yeta a thing of great beauty I j I Cedar City Is s placed in the same position polite visitors will continue I to o advise the inhabitants of Cedar that theirs Is a wonderful little city rity Then I what t They will go away and smile at the egotism of a II 4 town that would permit its main street to flaunt glar- glar advertisements and yet consider that any beauty remained The old hay barns are bad enough but there there I Is some excuse for their being there But even the prospect of ofa a brand new poster each month doesn't bring any thrills of pride over the Main Street of Cedar City the metropolis of southern Utah However the tourist will get quite a kick out of it and anything that will wili bring forth forth good hearty laughs Isn't isn entirely e I vast e dt l hough the town will have the appearance of a beautiful painting upon which some someone someone someone one has deliberately upset the ink I believe in advertising and lots of it it That is what the newspapers and movies are for This old sign board idea is is- about is-about about a a hundred year yeara 4 the times California is having all the advertising matter removed from her highways Why cant can't we do as much for Utah t My idea of those vacant lots would be to plant shrubbery and flowers and I am sure the good citizens of Cedar would be willing to help with keeping such places a thing of beauty instead ad of an eyesore as they willbe will willbe willbe be so long longas as the sign boards remain Too bad Mr Editor when you have been trying so 10 hard to impress upon the people of Cedar the importance of clean back yards clean vacant lots etc But dont don't give up All AIL things come to those who wait and here is hoping that you will yet meet with success Very V-ery sincerely MYRTLE GOFF COLVIN |
