L Jones although a native nathe of Cedar City is not a subscriber to the idea that the scenic wonderland of his own part of the State comprising Cedar Breaks re k IBi Bryce's I Zion anti the c Grand r canyon canyon and all the wonder spots in that region is peculiarly the property of southern Utah He holds that allI all I the scenic resources in all parts of the tho th State are the property and the care care of all of Utah His Hie lecture at the Assembly hall was introduced d with a map showing Salt Lake City as as s the Center of Scenic America and told tolda a story making the point that Salt Lake is the Main Entrance to the great big scenic business of all of Utah and he referred briefly to the wonders of of the Wasatch the Uintah ranges Ogden canyon the Great Salt Lake Brighton ogas the Cave and other attractions showing pictures of them and com corn commenting upon them Jack Utah's famous tenor entertained the vast audience with charming song three numbers the last The Holy City with words flashed on the screen above appropriate appropriate pictures from Utah's scenic wonderland of the south suggestive of the thoughts expressed in the lines being most rapturously received Mayor presided most grac grac- and Governor Mabey was at athis athis athis his very best in a glowing speech on Utah and what she ha has to advertise His chief plea was for loyalty to State and community and for united effort in advertising aright what we have in the State and correct and proper reception of the States State's many visitors who are growing in numbers yearly The affair was under the auspices of the Wasatch Mountain club the Boy Scouts and the Salt Lake Chamber Chamber Cham ber of Commerce By it it Mr Jones certainly sold Utah to Those will now sell it to others and the more of it they thus sell the more they will have left for themselves The scenic wonders can be seen but they cannot be carried away They are ours for all time I |
