| Show KILL AN INNOCENT NEGRO N EG RO MEMPHIS tenn feb 10 on george C Beri bennetts farm nine miles east of here on wednesday night three white men entered the cabin occupied by ed wet west and his wife and three children and accused the man who was a negro of stealing two cows west denied the charge but was shot to death the murderers then made his hia wife take a lighted candle and show them through the outhouses out houses as they claimed two other negroes were implicated in the stealing failing to find the negroes the three men left the cabin it has since been learned that ed west was innocent innone nt the missing miss cattle returned home early yes yea berday morning having only strayed off a few hundred yards today george E smith a dairyman and james como a laborer were arrested and charged with the murder of west the wife of west W cat will be brought t to memphis tomorrow and should she identify them a vigorous prosecution will follow deputy sheriffs are searching for the other white man he hc is known and will probably be arrested tomo arow the N Y world |
