Show Gunnison Citizenry Will Observe National Holiday Independence Day Program Complete, With Sun-Rise Salute, Program, Ball Game and "Kid's" Sports as Features While the Fourth of July in Gunnison Gun-nison will not be so elaborate as in other years gone by, there is going to be a treat for the citizens through a well arranged program for the day. As a result of the pending depression, the usual parade is to be dispensed with for this year, but in its stead a patriotic program, children's races, baseball games and dancing will be featured. The city council, aided by the citizens, has gathered funds for prizes at the children's contests, and tenson, a member of the city council, will act as master of ceremonies, announcing an-nouncing the following numbers: Invocation. The usual sunrise salute will be given, and likely the newly organized band will be out early on a serenading serenad-ing jaunt. At ten-thirty the doors of the Casino theatre will be thrown open to the public, at which time the program will be given. Harold Chris- and "Uncle Sam," portrayed by Lawrence Law-rence Edwards. The afternoon festivities will start at one-thirty at the Gunnison City park, when the Gunnison ball team v.-i'.l play with a team from Ephraim. The two teams are billed for a double-header double-header on the 4th, and at the conclusion conclus-ion of the game here, all players will move to Ephraim for the second game. Following the ball game all children child-ren are asked to assemble at First West street, between Center and First North, where a big card of sports will be held. This feature will be for boys and girls and will comprise all kinds of races. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the several events. An hour has been set aside, between five and six o'clock, for a big free dance for the children at Cremona. |
