Show African Copper Center Development of the new copper district dis-trict in northern Rhodesia, British South Africa is revealing indications of a most important field. Five mines already are being operated and it is believed that they alone have a potential po-tential production of 400,000 tons of copper a year. It is expected that approximately ap-proximately $60,000,000 will be spent In the next three or four years for power plant, metallurgical and mining equipment. American mining engineers engi-neers are in charge of practically every important mine In the district, and the new industry is being organized organ-ized on the white-labor basis. Because Be-cause of the scarcity of native workers, work-ers, highly mechanized operations will be used. |
