Show Mrs. Suye Kimura, resident of the Japanese colony, has returned to her home after being absent three weeks. Mrs. Kimura underwent an operation at a Salt Lake hospital some three weeks ago, and her many friends will be glad to know that her health is greatly improved. Mr. and Mrs. D. B. Saunders and children, who spent three weeks here visiting with relatives and friends, left for then- home at Ellensburg, Wash., Tuesday. Mrs. C. W. Davis of Soda Springs, Idaho, and Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Kearns, and son Henry, of Salt Lake, were, house guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Jensen the early days of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Metcalf, the Misses Alda and Beulah Metcalf, motored to Salt Lake Wednesday. They will spend the week end with friends at the capitol city. Mrs. J. S. Salmon and daughter, Winona, are here from their home at Salt Lake and are the guests at the j Chris. A. Peterson home. Mrs. Salmon Sal-mon will visit with her parents until after the 24th. Mrs. Leslie Kidman and Miss Irene Ehrich were charming hostesses at a progressive rook party at the Kidman home Saturday evening. Pink and white sweets peas were beautifully arranged as decorations about the living rooms, creating a pleasing effect. ef-fect. At eight thirty a refreshing luncheon was served, covers being laid for sixteen lady guests. In the contest at rook first honors were won by Mrs. June Metcalf and the second to Mrs. C. D. Michaelson. Mr. and Mrs. E. M. Jolley are rejoicing re-joicing over the arrival of a baby boy, born at the Jolley home Tuesday. Tues-day. All are doing nicely. Mrs. Ray Welland of Los Angeles,, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Nichols of Butte, Mont., are the guests this week at the Marius Jensen home. l' LOCAL ITEMS OF INTEREST Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Jensen, of Manti, and Mrs. Gus Rudeen and son of Los Angeles, and Mr. and Mrs. Edd. Jensen of this city spent several sever-al days on an outing vacation in Twelve Mile canyon last week. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Broderick of Hinckley, spent Thursday and Friday Fri-day of last week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Larsen. Mrs. H. P. Thorson, the Misses Edna, Ed-na, Dolores and Evelyn Thorson, and Mrs. Albert Thorson of Brigham City, visited at the George Francis home Monday night. The visitors were just returning from the summer convention conven-tion of the Utah Woolgrowers association associ-ation held at Richfield last Saturday. While in the southern section the visitors motored to Bryce canyon. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Metcalf gave a dinner party Saturday afternoon at four o'clock, complimentary to Dr. and Mrs. Ernell Jensen of Salt Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Mellor of Mnti. Guests from Gunnison were also present and previous to the dinner din-ner a social time was enjoyed. Monday Mr. and Mrs. Glen Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Judd, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Keller and Mrs. and Mrs. Lester Mellor of Manti, Mr. and Mrs.! Russel Christensen of Hawaii, were special guests at the J. E. Metcalf home at a social time at progressive bridge. In the contest for honors at bridge Mr. and Mrs. Keller were the winners. At ten thirty Mrs. Metcalf served a delicious luncheon. Mrs. S. M. Dugicins was a charming charm-ing hostess to members of the Royal Neighbors Saturday afternoon from two to five thirty at a progressive "500" party. Following a spirited game of cards Mrs. Dunrgins served a splendid luncheon, covers being laid for twenty. Mrs. J. B. Roper, Mrs. Vada Tit-comb Tit-comb and Miss Dora Keyser have p-one to Grand Junction, Colo., where they will remain for a month visiting visit-ing with Mr. and Mrs. John A. Sprott. Mrs. Dudley Jerome and Fred Bil- lingsley, who spent several days at the J. S. Peterson home in this city, returned to their home at Grand Junction, Colo., Friday of last week. Mrs. L. A. Walts of Moab, mother to Albert Watts of the News forces,; Mrs. Maim Barney and Mrs. Emma Wickizer, J. C. Green and J. C. Barney Bar-ney of Payson, were in Gunnison Tuesday afternoon and spent several hours visiting with Mr. Watts. Miss Helen Sorenscn of Emery, Is in the city and is a guest of Miss Iris Michaelson. Miss Sorenson will visit here and at Mayfield until after the 2.1th. D. H. Whittenhurg, agriculturist, and R. K. Gaddio, chemist, for the Gunnison Sugar company, spent a few days at the capitol city the first of the week. |
