Leo Beck, a former CtnterfiolJ resident, but who has spent the past eleven years at Los Angeles, spent a few days here this week on his annual visit with relatives and friends. Mr. Beck also has interests here and he was looking after his business affairs. Mr. Beck left for the coast this morning. ... Mrs. Edd. Jensen was hostess to members of the Treas Jouli club at her home Thursday afternoon of last v.'eek, when she entertained for six-t.-cii ut bridge. Usually the time of the club is spent at needlecraft, but progressive bridge was featured instead. in-stead. In the contest at the four tables played, favors were won by .Mrs. F. 11. Jones and Mrs. J. M. Knighton. At five-thirty, Mrs. Jensen Jen-sen served a dainty luncheon and was assisted by her daughters, Misses Edna and Faye Jensen. Hyrum Christiansen, the merchant, was called to Salt Lake Sunday. He had been summoned to serve as a petit juror' before the federal court. Howard Childs left for Salt Lake the first of the week. He expects to be absent until early spring. Mrs. Edd. Jensen spent the early days of the week visiting with relatives rela-tives at Manti. She returned home Wednesday. Mrs. Leon Larson was a charming hostess Friday night at a social function, func-tion, the occasion being complimentary complimen-tary to Mr. Larson, who was celebrating celebrat-ing his birthday anniversary. At seven sev-en o'clock a delicious hot dinner was served, covers being laid for twelve. Following the dinner a lively game of progressive bridge was played, and Mr. and Mrs. S. K. Roper cap-VUired cap-VUired the-favors. Mr. Larson, the guest of honor, received the felicitations felicita-tions and best wishes from the guests attending. , Advices received from Helper recently, re-cently, announced the birth of a fine baby girl, born to Mr. and Mrs. La-Barth La-Barth Fjeldsted. Miss Elna Fjeldsted, a sister to Mr. Fjeldsted, was- called to Helper,- and she expects to remain thevfe for two weeks. Mr .and Mrs. Curtis Whitlock are rejoicing over the arrival of a baby girl, a joyful holiday present. The baby was born December 4, and mother mo-ther and daughter are doing splendidly. splen-didly. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Metcalf were among those from Gunnison attend- ing the funeral services held for the late Bishop N. R. Peterson at Manti, Sunday. Andrew Modeen of the Star Market, Mar-ket, made a hurried business trip to Salt Lake Monday. He returned home late Tuesday evening. Miss Bemice Mansfield, who spent several days visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Mansfield, returned re-turned to Salt Lake Tuesday. ! Mrs. L. G. Anderson entertained for members of the Royal Neighbors and a few' intimate friends Saturday afternoon af-ternoon at a hot dinner and progressive progres-sive bridge. Dinner was served at five-thirty, following which .card playing was enjoyed. Guest prize was won by Mrs. J. E. Metcalf, while club members winning were Mrs. Sanford San-ford Anderson and Mrs. Charlotte Villard. Mrs. Lloy Morley, daughter of George Q. Whitlock, who became a bride early in the fall, is here from her home at Eureka for a visit with relatives and friends. Udell Jensen, county attorney, Ed. Pt-terson, sheriff, and Ulysses Larsen, chief deputy under Sheriff Peterson, were here Tuesday on official business. |
