Show GIRLS, BE CAREFUL. Faye New, nineteen-year-old college col-lege co-ed of Birmingham, Ala., was found dead in a ditch a few hundred yards from a public highway, her throat cut in two places. She had gone for an automobile ride with a man she had met only a few minutes before. He evidently misinterpreted mis-interpreted the readiness of this young girl to go riding at night with a chance acquaintance of only a few minutes. Now, he is in jail, charged with murder. Girls cannot be too careful. The modern spirit has brought with it a wide expanse of freedom for women, but this does not mean that a young lady can act wisely in embracing it all. What might be only friendly acts with an old friend can be mistaken for advances by a stranger, ignorant of the habits and customs of the place. The possibility of a disagreeable experience ex-perience is too great to take such chances. |
