Show Clarion Boy Scouts Enjoy First Outing Clarion Boy Scouts, under the guidance guid-ance of Scoutmaster H. W. Westlund and officer, Burge Frandsen, enjoyed their first real outing last week-end. The group went to what is known as the "Painted Rocks," on the banks of the big reservoir, and enjoyed a real-to-goodness time. With visions of catching big fish, the boys were eager from the start, but bad luck tarried and only a few of the finney tribe took the hook. Trials at fire-starting with just two matches proved suc-ccsful suc-ccsful and soon a delicious supper was in readiness. Mess over and the dishes cleaned and stored away properly for the morning, the time was spent in sports and games. Some clever wrestling matches were staged, a contest in tug-of-war, and other diversions occupied tho time until "taps" be sounded. With " the breaking of dawn on the second day,- the scouts were again lively, and following a fine breakfast hikes and games were enjoyed. The trip was a real treat to the scouts, and plans are now under way for a trip to Twelve Mile canyon. Some three or four days will be spent in the grand old canyon. |
