Show Weeds "Must Go" Says Commissioner Organization throughout the county coun-ty to wage a war against noxious weeds, has just been effected, and followed a visit of Harden Bennion, state commissioner of agricultuiv. Gorge Cook, chairman of the board of county commissioners, Dr. J. K. Thorpe, Ephraim, Chris Sorenson of Centerfield, Orlando Bradley, Clinton Kjar and C. 0. Stott, have been named nam-ed a committee on organization, and it is announced that this committee will visit every community in the county and enlist the cooperation t' all public agencies, such as the co ty and state road officials, raihv.ul officials, canal companies, private land owners and civic and business clubs in helping to put over the campaign cam-paign throughout the country. Harden Bennion, state commissioner commission-er of agriculture, who recently visited visit-ed the county, declared that the war against noxious weeds would lie a state-wide movement. White top, which is fast gaining a stronghold in places, and other weeds detrimental detrimen-tal to crop production, will be destroyed, de-stroyed, if the state laws are strictly strict-ly adhered to. Allowing the massing of weeds along fences and in corners, cor-ners, forming a breeding place for mites, lice, squirrels and gophers, will be discouraged and plans a?v under way to make the weed control fight this year stronger than ever before. |
