Show Black Rot Canker Common Black rot canker in some form Is of common occurrence, says the Rural New Yorker. It may be seen In the fall in the black decay of apples. And In the spring and summer It shows as spots on the leaves, and all the year, unless cut out, it may manifest itself as rough growth on limbs, as cankerous canker-ous eruptions on the branches. Canker on the limbs has been recognized for many years as an undeslred growth ; cut it out when doing the pruning work. This limb eruption can be connected con-nected with the black fruit and leaf spots, to show how one follows the other. All are due to a parasite called black rot canker, and known to orchard orch-ard doctors as Physalospora cydoniae. |
