Show ICity Water Systen. Will Be Improved Plans have been announced bv the ( city officials that the water system, a source of much trouble and ex- .pense during the past several years, will be improved through placing of new pipe along the main line leading from the springs at Nine Mile to : the storage tanks north of the city. i The replacement of approximately a mile of pipe was started the first of this week and it is proposed to complete com-plete this part of the program this year. The point of work now being carried car-ried out is through what is known as the Olsen pasture and across the Sanpitch river. At this particular point the wooden pipe has deteriorated deteriorat-ed and rotted so fast of late that unnecessary expense and grief has resulted in the action of the city officials of-ficials in making the repairs. The 'pipe being used is an 8-inch it on ; pipe, manufactured at Woods Cross. Instead of laying the pipe at the point where it crosses the Sanpitch, it is proposed to carry it over the stream, the expense of tunneling being be-ing regarded too heavy at this time. The main pipe line coursing through the Olsen pasture, is considered con-sidered the worse point along the .entire system. The pasture and lowlands are water soaked and wooden wood-en pipe soon deteriorates. With the steel pipe installed much of the trouble will be avoided and a great saving will result. The entire main line system is to be replaced, a member of the water committee stated. The plan of replacement re-placement with new pipe will be carried car-ried out for a period of years, and through this method a bond issue to raise funds for the purpose of repairing re-pairing the system, will be avoided. |
