Show Newspaper Contest j Arousing Interest All high schools of the intermoun-tain intermoun-tain region are being invited to enter en-ter the intermountain high school newspaper contests sponsored by the division of journalism, Brigham Young university, according to H. R. Merrill, professor of journalism. I Four states were represented among the winners in the first contests con-tests of this kind, held last year. Gunnison, Gun-nison, Colo., and Jordan high school, Sandy, Utah, tied for first in one division, di-vision, Laramie, Wyo., captured first , in another, and Twin Falls, Idaho, I proved superior in a third. Because of increased interest in the second annual an-nual conference of high school journalists jour-nalists at B. Y. U. last fall, many I papers are expected to enter this I year. No entrance fee is charged. High I schools need only send in two con-j con-j secutive issues of their newspaper, j with a slip telling the number of issues is-sues printed each year and the num-I num-I ber of persons in the student body. ! The entries will be criticized by pro-j pro-j fessional journalists. The papers must be in by March 30. Certificates of excellence will be issued in each of several divisions. |
