Show HIGH SCHOOL NOTES i Grace Beck, Reporter I Richard Gledhill, who recently returned re-turned from the British mission, visited vis-ited the seminary classes last week and talked to the students. Monday, February 2, the following seminary classes selected their officers offi-cers to serve for the coming three weeks: Church history department President, Theone Christensen; vice-president, vice-president, Rosa Christensen; reporter, Ilene Jensen; song leader, Levelle Funk. New testament, girls President, Presi-dent, Elda Christensen; vice-president, Lucille Embley; reporter, Vivian Sorenson; Sor-enson; song leader, Merrill Nelson. Old testament, girls President, Jean Park; vice-president, Georgia Smith; song leader, Pearl Roper; organist, Beth Childs; reporter, Dora Keysor. Old testament, boys President, Du-ane Du-ane Anderson; vice-president, George Nay; reporter, Odell Jensen. www The cast - for the school opera, "Sailor Maids," has been chosen. The following students will take part: Wilma Morley; Velda Ferre, Merle Park, Dale Bartholomew, Uhlan Swalberg, Nolan Edwards, Duane Frandsen, Paul Duggins and McEwan. Voorhees.i A popularity contest was held last Thursday and Friday. Evelyn Mor-tensen Mor-tensen was chosen the most popular girl and Uhlan Swalberg the most popular boy. The Business and Professional Wo-rhens Wo-rhens club of Gunnison is sponsoring a declamation contest, which will be held in the near future. A very interesting program was given Saturday of last week by the senior class. The senior oral expression class presented the students with two one-act one-act plays, under the direction of Miss Rose. The cast for the first play included in-cluded the following: Bernice Sorenson, Soren-son, Lloyd Olsen, Paul Duggins and Edgar Nielson. The cast for the second sec-ond play was composed of Reid Bardsley, Eland Anderson, Wells Anderson, An-derson, LaRue Pickett, Nellie Bauer, Rose Westlund, Roberta Malmgren, and Dean Malmgren. There was also a reading by Arvilla Bartholomew and a vocal solo by Clarence Myrup. The students of the high school are working on their entries in the Sugar Beet contest, sponsored by the banks of Sanpete and Sevier counties. The staff of the "Blue & White" is working hard on the sponsoring of a larger and better school paper, which will be published monthly. A prize is being awarded the student who can pick out the best name. Principal Bardsley recently sent in his annual report to the state high school department, and we find that there is a decided gain in attendance this year over last. |
