Show 'Scout Ceremonial Will Be Impressive j The first court of honor to be ; held by the Boy Scout of America ! organization in this district is , scheduled for next Sunday night, ! The ceremonies will be held at the Gunnison Valley high school and it promises to be one of unusual interest to not only the boy scouts, but to the citizens who are backing I the upbuilding of scoutism. An ap-I ap-I propriate program has been arranged arrang-ed for the occasion and scouts and : citizens will be heard. Wm. G. Barton, Sanpete county executive, 1 will be present to deliver the princi-! princi-! pal address. Mr. Barton will give a real message on boy scouting and j his talk will be particularly pleasing j to all. During the ceremonies of the I evening two first class awards, and ten second class awards will ba i made. It is also indicated that pos-! pos-! sibly one Star scout award will he made. This latter will be given to a member who has won five merit badges, and within the troop is a member eligible for this honor. Considerable enthusiasm is being manifested in the scout movement this spring and, without doubt, the spring and summer will see greater activity and interest shown than ever before. Clarion has completed the or-ganization of a troop with twelve active members. The officers offi-cers heading the newwly organized troop are B. L. Frandsen, chairman of the troop committee. Associate troop committeemen are Lorin Kump and Niels P. Nielson. Ivan Squires has been named scout master, and Ivan Frandsen, assistant scout mas- . ter. The new organization plans t get in the active line and are now planning for real work. Another important topic among the various troops of the Gunnison Valley district, is the "jamboree" to be held at Mt. Pleasant Saturday,, April 28th. The local scouts will go in a body to the "jamboree" and many will be seen in the various contests con-tests that are being arranged. A big time is expected at Mt. Pleasant Pleas-ant and scouts from all parts of the county are to be present. |
