Show SLAYER OF FLORA NELSON WILL HAVE EARLY HEARING Claude Blackburn, who murdered Flora Nelson of this city at Bingham May 29, according to advices received from officers at the mining camp, is to have an early hearing. The preliminary pre-liminary hearing has been delayed due to the condition of Blackburn, who, after slashing the throat of Miss Nelson, attempted his own life by cutting his own throat. Since the crime, Blackburn has been confined to the hospital, but Saturday he had recovered re-covered sufficiently to be removed to the county jail where he is being held. Justice of the Peace, Ray Kenner, of Bingham, has asked for immediate setting of he preliminary hearing of Blackburn and the slayer of the young Gunnison girl will be charged with first degree murder. It was reported that Blackburn would enter a plea of self defense, claiming that Miss Nelson Nel-son attempted to cut his throat, and that to save bis life he slashed the young woman's throat, which caused the latter' s death. |
