Show RUTH OAKLEY. The West Weber Dramatic Co. held down the boards at t'he opera house last Friday night in "'Ruth Oakley.'' The company is a purely home amateur organization, which entitles it to nil possible leniency in criticism. The company is not a very strong one, but three of the principal characters, Paul Oakley, by Frank Carr, Lord Gayton, by E. W. Clayton and Dame Martha, by Mrs. Agnes Hoggs, were quite well handled. Ruth Oakley's costume in the second act was very elegant. The montebanks created considerable laughter. The singing sing-ing was one of the most enjoyable features of the evening. The audience audi-ence was one of the noisiest and worst behaved we ever saw in Prig-ham Prig-ham City, and we fear the West Weber people will carry away with them an erroneous impression of what constitutes a representative Brigham audience. |
