Show Wool Specialist Has High Praise On Monday and Tuesday, College sheep and wool specialist. Professor A E Esplin, was in Sanpete county assisting County Agent C. 0. Sto't with project work in this field throughout the county. Meetings were held with sheepmen and students at Gunnison, Mt. Pleasant and Ephraim. In speaking of good quality in the Sanpete County wool, Professor Esplin Esp-lin said, "Of 100 samples of Sanpste grown wool sent into the Bureau of Agricultural Economics, United States Department of Agriculture, for ana- lysis, the tests showed grades of 80's 70's and Gl's, or all equivalents of fine wool. The shrinkage ranged from 51 per cent to 69 per cent with an average of G2, per cent." Professor Esplin commented further "that wool appears to be cleaner this year than the average." Observations with measurements of stapcl at shearing con-als shows San-ete San-ete County wool to fall in the combing comb-ing and French combing classes with a very small percentage of clothing wool. Professor Esplin complimented the Sanpete county home grown wool producers pro-ducers this year in their efforts to put up a cleaner and better quality product. |
