Show Big Celebration Is Being Planned Spend your Fourth in Gunnison! In keeping with the custom of years gone by and with a view to commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Fourth of July will be fittingly celebrated cele-brated in this city. Fred H. Jones, manager for the J. C. Penney company, com-pany, named general chairman for the arrangement of the celebration, has announced the sub-committees and matters are fast shaping for a big time here. Committeemen assisting as-sisting Mr. Jones are as follows: Program, Mrs. Charlotte Villard and Mrs. A. M. Peterson; sports, Orville Hansen and Dr. S. S. Kunz; finance, George Francis and Chas. Rasmus-sen; Rasmus-sen; decorations, L. H. Johnson. The several committeemen will be aided by volunteer workers and the task of staging a big time in Gunnison will be lightened through a full cooperation coopera-tion and generous contributions. The day's program has not as yet been fully outlined, but will be ready for publication soon. A general outline, out-line, however, of what will take place has been indicated. During the morning and following the he-ception he-ception of the visitors, a patriotic program will be given at the Casino theater at ten thirty. The children, all of them, will be entertained at i two o'clock at the Relief society hall I with a dancing party and refresh-1 ments. Later in the afternoon a bigj card of sports will be staged in which races of various sorts will be held and prizes offered to winners of the several contests. j The day's festivities will close with! a splendid display of fireworks during dur-ing the evening. Gunnison extends a cordial invitation invita-tion to every citizen in the county to : be her guests of Independence day. ! Plan to be here and join in a jolly: good time. j i |
